Introduction
The following are axioms for software architects by software architects. These axioms have been contributed under the Creative Commons, Attribution 3 open source license. For more details on how to contribute your own axioms see the "Rules of Engagement " section of this site.
Although we have successfully gathered 97 great axioms which will be published by O'Reilly in a book, 97 Things Every Software Architect Should Know, this project doesn't end here. We are starting a new list of axioms called "97 More things Every Software Architect Should Know". This list will contain the best axioms collected starting September 13th, 2008.
97 Things Every Software Architect Should Know
These are the axioms accepted into the book which will be published by O'Reilly Media next year.
97 More Things Every Software Architect Should Know
This is the start of a new list of axioms compiled after the the first 97 axioms were contributed. These axioms represent the best new axioms contributed starting on September 13th, 2008. If this list ever gets completed it may become a book as well!
Other Things Software Architects Should Know
These are axioms that were contributed and are good in their own right, but were not accepted into the either the "97 Things" or "97 More Things" lists.
Web 2.0 Patterns
In what I think will be a wonderful book for Software Architects, Duane Nickel is writing "Web 2.0 Patterns" for O'Reilly and Associates. The book is not out yet but there are some really interesting ideas in a blog post made by Duane Recently called "Forensic Architecture and other lessons from SOA land". I highly recommend it. Now if we could just get Duane to contribute some of his hard earned axioms to the project, that would be great!
